Great Ocean Road Ride:
Starting meet time
is usually 8am at BP Waurn Ponds service station just after Geelong (at
the exit of the bypass). We ride early
to avoid the traffic that is synonymous with the Great Ocean road. A
philosophy that we keep for all our rides.
For those hooking
up earlier most riders coming from Melbourne pass the Laverton Shell
service station at around 7:20am. Travel all the way down the
Princess freeway and the new Geelong bypass to Waurn Ponds.
Leaving Waurn Ponds before 8:30 we head down Settlement road, High street, Colac Hwy taking the Anglesea road turn off to head down to The Great
Ocean Road (We do not take the Torquay turn off for GOR). For
our rides that take the Deans Marsh alternative, we travel straight
instead of going to Anglesea.
From here on it is
straight through to Anglesea and then the Great Ocean road. This
ride is not usually corner marshalled as the route is fairly straight
forward. We usually arrive at Lorne between 9 to 9:30am for
breakfast at the Arab and some bench racing of the first section of the
GOR.
From there we head down the GOR stopping at the Cape Patton
look out shortly before Apollo bay. Here the ride can continue onto
Apollo Bay and then Lavers hill for lunch or turn around to go back the
way we came for a shorter days ride. For the really keen, the ride
can continue from there to Port Campbell.
With most shorter rides (to Cape Patton), the
estimated time of arrival back to Melbourne is usually around 1 to 2pm.

Spurs ride:
Starting meet
time is 8am at the Caltex service station in Greensborough Melways
reference 11 D7, UBD reference 166 P13.
For those from
the Western suburbs we join up at the Shell servo on cnr of Taylors and
King's road in ........ Head down the Western Ring
road (Greensborough bound) all the way till the end and turn left.
Head down the Greensborough bypass, over the large bridge and through the
roundabout which then becomes diamond creek road. Meeting point is
the Caltex service station about 1km down the road.
From Caltex we
head off down Diamond Creek road to Hurstbridge and then St Andrews and
Kinglake road. We regroup at the round about turning right onto
Kinglake-Healsville road. We continue across the other side of the
Melba Hwy along Kinglake-Healsville road. We continue along
Kinglake-Healsville road, (continue right at kink) and not Myers
Creek road (although this route can be taken too), all the way to Healsville.
We
turn left onto the Maroondah Hwy and then attack the Black spur.
From there we turn right at the Marysville turn off near St Fillans.
At Marysville we stop for Brunch.
After
Marysville we head off to the Reefton spur. This part of the ride
can be stopped about half way down the reefton and turn back or continue
on to Warburton. The same route can be followed back or there are
many alternatives. (those will be updated soon). Home
time is around the 2pm mark for the short alternative or earlier if the
Reefton is not done.

Broadford and Winton
Track days:
Unfortunately until we get opportunities with the circuit owners, Hangmore
organised trackdays at these venues are currently no longer available.
We are still doing our best to get these events back into our yearly line up.
Hangmore’s own
Broadford and Winton Trackday's come at the low price of $100 per
person. This will include compulsory insurance for the track (not your
bike), and race license for the day (Applicable at Broadford only.
Unfortunately this price will not change even if you already have a race
license).
As usual we will have an
ambulance (not St Johns) at the track and this is a members only event. The tracks have
undercover pits and electricity. Again, those non riders able to donate some time to marshal the event are
greatly appreciated.
Please note the following important details:-
MAXIMUM OF 60 RIDERS FOR BROADFORD AND 75 FOR WINTON (Strict cut off applies)
1st cutoff date: A late fee of $20 will apply to
bookings after this date. Thus the trackday will cost $120. (This is an
incentive to book early and make life easier for the committee)
Final cut off:
date to reserve your spot. No entries after this date.
ON THE
DAY
There will now be three groups on the day, fast, medium, slow.
All riders MUST BE AT THE TRACK BY 8AM TO HAVE THEIR BIKE SCRUTINEERED AND
INDEMNITIES SIGNED AND COLLECTED. A member will be ticking you off the list, so
look for them at the scrutineers office on the morning. You WILL NOT get on the
track otherwise. If you miss this important part of the day, you will not get
on the track until a scrutineer is available to check your bike and sign you
off. If you have to wait, bad luck.
We run things a little differently to many others. When you arrive at the
circuit, unload your bike, and take it to the scrutineering area. Your bike
will be checked over for basic safety. You will be presented with an indemnity
form. Please fill this out (name, lic no, and emergency contact details on
reverse). At this stage you will receive a sticker to be placed on the front
of your bike (screen is ideal) You may return to your pit area until the rider
briefing which MUST be attended by ALL riders. Once all this is completed, you
are set to go on the track. Check which group you are in A or B or C, and
proceed to the track entry when your group is instructed to do so.
There will be 2 roving marshals identified by bright yellow
vests. They will be keeping an eye on things and will lead each group on a 2
lap sighting in the first session of the day. No one is to pass the marshal
until the end of the 2nd
lap.
YOU AND YOUR BIKE
We now require all riders and pillions
to have full leathers. A minimum of riding jacket and pants
(dry rider, textile etc), sturdy boots that cover the ankle and riding gloves
will be accepted. Unfortunately we can no longer accept jeans for any track
days. That also means no tracksuit pants or runners.... obviously.
Please make sure your bike is in track worthy condition!!
Things to make sure that are in good order:
-
Chain not slack or tight (this is a BIG one. Please have this sorted
before the day),
-
throttle snaps back when released,
-
brake pads not worn
out,
-
all glass taped up,
-
tyres in roadworthy condition,
-
remove bike racks if possible,
-
no
leaking fluids and no loose parts.
If these things aren't met in scrutineering you will be forced to fix them and
if that is not possible you will NOT be allowed on the track.
Each rider will be required to complete an indemnity form and
attend the rider briefing prior to being allowed on the track. Please
arrive at the track no later than 8:00am to allow all riders to attend the
briefing and ensure a punctual start at 9am. Gates will be open from 8:00am,
so get in early, get unloaded and get on the track nice and early. We also
recommend that you trailer your bike up, for a number of reasons:
1. Allows removal of lights, mirrors etc prior to event
2. Gives you transport home in case you do have an off
3. You’ll be knackered by the end of the day, and riding home
is not a great idea.
If you are hiring one, hire a box trailer (not dirt bike
trailer) as they carry road bikes much better, and allow extra storage of
gear. Now is the time to go and get yourself a set of tie downs (from $20-30)
and tie down straps (under $10) Check out our sponsors for their range.
Method of payment and notification must include your name.
