The Hangmore
Motorcycle Club Inc was created by 5 keen sport bike riders in Victoria
back in winter 1999.
The organizing group had a deep passion for
motorcycling in all it's aspect. Track days, road rides, the whole package
had to be there. Pushing the limits driving the soul.
The early days were
in fact a bit of a dream, to create a sports bike club where any brand of
bike could join, an idea to find others who would share the same vibes,
the forever ending search for freedom , exhilaration that comes from
riding a sports bike the way it was meant to be ridden.
Hangmore was
designed for the ones who want more from their motorcycles and from the
road or tracks they ride. An idea to also have more people to embellish
the experience of safety in numbers and safety before all, riding with a
group that cares.
Regardless of displacement, anyone who is keen on the
aspect of sportsbikes is welcome at Hangmore, the only forbidden thing in
the club are Cruisers and Harleys (just coz there are too many of those
clubs already)
Where
did the name come from I hear you ask??
Two of the founding members of the club got it's name from a private joke.
You see FredR1 used to get riding tips from JoeyR6 to improve his
exuberances on the Great Ocean Road. Joey always used to say "You're doing
great, your getting good drive into the turns and all, but you got to
throw your body in the corner a bit more, drop that shoulder and most of
all hang more".
Those
last 2 words were the key of it all and in passing FredR1 once replied "If
you ever become a riding instructor Joey you should call your school "Hang
More Motorcycle Technique" not unlike the "Stay Upright Motorcycle
Technique".
Once Mark
916 had come up with the idea of the sport bike club, the name was an
immediate choice....so now you know why.
The club
is now fully established and it has since '99 grown from nothing to a
great entity.
The
strength of Hangmore is it's members, because at the end of the days you
only get out what you put in.
The main attraction to the club for many is the easy going atmosphere that
gets promoted at all our events, without forgetting safety of course.
It is however the efforts of the committee staff which in fact help to
create that atmosphere, for after all if the base work is done and well
organize, everything else will fall into place.
The Lounge

The
Lounge has been set up as a forum to service
club members.
In there you can catch up with the local gossip
and anything from technical bike talk, to what other members are up to.
It's there for anyone who wants to post something interesting or
discuss anything to do with the club.

Lounge and post for further information on its members and events.
Registering
yourself on the Lounge is only possible if you are a paid up

Track Days
We all love a track day
and we have organized quite a few over the
years.
Check out where we are going next (including a few ride days
which are not directly organized by Hangmore but where we may be
present all the same - Sometimes referred to as a Hangmore
Hi-Jack).
Phillip Island Track Day Discounts (inc
Eastern Creek):
For
all CURRENT Hangmore Members, the club has been lucky enough to have
secured a discount scheme for Phillip Island and Eastern Creek Trackdays through the
California Superbike School.
We
will now be organising track days at club meetings or on our road rides,
selecting future dates and booking a group in packages of x10ea positions
- pre paid to the club at $210 as per before. The club will then buy the
package and pay for the pit garages so all you need to do is turn up on
the day, set up and ride.
There is a maximum of x40 positions at discounted rates on any one day
(not just Hangmore, but ALL group bookings) so it is a case of "first in,
best dressed".
In a way this will be good because it will help make our members to get in
each others ear on club rides or at club meetings, actually meet each
other, and organise these events.
Firstly, check the website of
www.phillipislandridedays.com.au
or give them a quick call regarding the availability of positions in your desired group.
Your payment should be done first
because we can’t/won’t organise anything until the Secretary gives us the go
ahead.
All the payment details are on the web (see membership page) and in the
newsletter, but your options are via EFT (by internet or at your bank) or
by mailing a cheque/money order to the post office box – no cash please!
We MUST have a reference number/name for your EFT as it is
an absolute nightmare trying to match up bookings with payments as we
could have up to 30 of these to match up at any one time.
If you have enough room please write something that will be helpful for us
to identify your transfer amongst the many others.
Note - From what I understand,
EFT’s at the bank may not issue a reference number, so if that’s the case
we still need to know this in your email.
GROUP PREFERENCE - make sure you tell us what group you SHOULD be
in, not what is left available.
We have been firmly warned that quicker guys will be sidelined if they
nominate ‘slow group’ and start carving everyone up.
Once you buy the track day from us, IT’S YOURS and we will take no further
responsibility for it. The club will simply facilitate the discount
only. All usual policies stipulated by the ride day provider will
apply.
Please note : There will be no Hangmore only sessions
provided on the day .
Champions Ride Days Discounts:
Hangmore has secured another discount arrangement with a ride day promoter.
Champions Ride Days are happy to offer a discount of $25.00 off any ride day
(no other discounts on that price). This price is Pre-Paid only (Credit card,
Cheque or Money order). They do at least one track day a month in Victoria,
and you will notice later in the year, there are some double days (Saturday
at Winton and Sunday at Broadford) which would be fun too. They can offer
our members the opportunity to all ride in the one group exclusively
(minimum group of 25, and will obviously require some committee assistance
with organising), have a special section in the pits just for us, we can
have our banner displayed up in the pits, have our own BBQ and have
discounts on Track Day Tuition and Instruction (Contact Champions for
details, but it may enable you to be covered with your insurance provider).
To receive the discount, simply contact Champions to book your day and let
them know you’re with Hangmore, simple as that. (No cheating either, they
will contact the committee to check on your membership status.) Visit their
website at www.championsridedays.com.au, or call
Nicole on 0427 771 451
